Care UK has received council approval for a 75-bed care home in Sarisbury Green near Fareham in Hampshire.

The planning application, submitted by specialist healthcare property developer Prime Plc, was passed on Wednesday 12 December 2018.

Bob Smaylen, development director for Prime, said: “Using our expertise in community care facilities and healthcare property development, we presented a revised proposal which would address the undersupply of high-quality care home places in Sarisbury Green and, in particular, the lack of specialist dementia care. We are delighted that the changes we made to the plans have been rubber stamped by the council.”

Plans for the care home had initially been rejected, following concerns over the access point for the new facility. However, Prime worked closely with council officers to amend the proposals and ensure a safer traffic solution could be found, which would allow the much-needed facility to gain planning approval.

The home, which will create 80 jobs, will include facilities such as a hair and nail salon and a coffee bar that will be open to the public.

A Care UK spokesperson told CHP: “We hope to start work in summer 2019 and, if that is the case, then the home will be ready for residents in the spring of 2021.”
