Cornish care operators John and Mary Anson have bought St Mary’s Haven care home in Penzance.

The Ansons, who operate several care homes across Cornwall, bought St Mary’s through specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co.

Jonathan Southgate, business agent in Christie & Co’s Exeter office who handled the sale, said: “We are delighted for the current owners who have found a committed and determined buyer in the Ansons.

“We feel that John and Mary will take this business from strength to strength and build on the home’s strong reputation.

“This sale demonstrates the life in the market, the aspirations held by regional operators in the south west of England and the banks’ willingness to continue their investment in the healthcare sector despite market headwinds.”

St Mary’s, which was previously owned by the Diocese of Plymouth and operated by Sanctuary Housing Group, provides 32 single and en suite rooms for people living with dementia.

Ansons Care Services provides care at five homes in Portreath, Penzance and Redruth.
