Care homes across the country will be opening their doors to the public this month.
Over 4,300 services are taking part in this year’s Care Home Open Day on June 16, which celebrates care homes’ links with their local communities.
This year’s theme of ‘Friendship’ will emphasise the importance of connecting with local communities, developing lasting relationships and encouraging intergenerational rapport.
Care homes will be celebrating friendships between residents, families, friends and staff as well as with their neighbours, to reinforce how they should be an integral part of their local area.
This year’s event is being held in partnership with The Big Lunch, an annual event organised by the Eden Project in Cornwall, which aims to get as many people as possible to eat lunch together in order to build community links.
