Care home given green light within major South London development project

The South London borough of Wandsworth is set for a major regeneration project that will include care home set alongside a 13 hectare park.

The development’s application includes plans for play areas, a running trail, a pavilion, toilet provision, car parking, ecological areas, a formal lawn and a formal sports zone which could accommodate a range of different pitch sizes.

The redevelopment of the entire 33 hectare site will see the construction of a new psychiatric hospital, 839 homes, a care home for the elderly, a school, plus approximately 3,500 square metres of office and retail accommodation with parking spaces for 952 cars. The new buildings will range in height up to four storeys.

Planning permission for the scheme was given on appeal in 2012 by a Government inspector after Wandsworth Council had rejected the application.
