Care group gets behind Scarborough Athletic’s new wheelchair spaces

A care home group has entered into a new sponsorship deal with Scarborough Athletic to enable more fans in wheelchairs to enjoy matches.

Scarborough-based care provider Saint Cecilia is sponsoring the newly-expanded wheelchair area at the football club’s ground.

It will enable a dozen wheelchair users to have an unobstructed view of the club’s home games.

Saint Cecilia’s director, Aaron Padgham, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be continuing our ongoing support for the football club by sponsoring the wheelchair area and to help make sport as accessible as possible to the local community.

“The newly-expanded area provides an excellent opportunity for those in wheelchairs and their carers to fully enjoy all the action at the game and we know it will be greatly appreciated by those who will use it.”

Scarborough Athletic chairman Trevor Bull said: “We would like to thank Saint Cecilia’s as sponsor of the new enlarged wheelchair spacing at the top of the main stand.

“This has increased the wheelchair facility from four spaces to 12. As a club we feel that it is important that watching sport is accessible to all, so Saint Cecilia’s support with this is invaluable.

“Of the 12 spaces, eight are available for our league matches.”

The sponsorship continues a long-standing relationship between the care group and local sport.

Mr Padgham added: “We are delighted to support local sport both for the benefit it plays in the local community and as a great way of keeping the body and mind fit for later life.”
