Buyers of Devon care home plan to extend site by 10 beds

The Koppers, Axminster

The owners of a 24-bed Devon care home plan to increase the capacity of the site by a further 10 places after officially taking over the business.

Martin and Carolyn Thomas and business partner Dr M Malik have finalised a deal that sees them acquire The Koppers Care Home in the village of Kilmington, near Axminster.

The home gained an excellent reputation for quality dementia care under previous owners Vivian and Deen Baksh and has previously been voted one of the top 20 recommended care Homes in the South West.

The new purchasers have planning permission to extend by 10 and expect to be effecting this very soon.

John Crocker, director at Christie & Co in Exeter, who handled the sale on behalf of Vivian and Deen Baksh, said: “We were delighted to assist our clients in enabling them to acquire the first of a planned portfolio of care homes in the South West.

“The new owners have a wealth of experience and this will stand them in very good stead when taking over at The Koppers, and we are looking forward to seeing how they further expand and strengthen the business.”
