Building work has begun on a 70 bed Barchester Healthcare home in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

The home, which is expected to open in the summer of 2018, will create 100 jobs and cater for older people, including those living with dementia.

Mark Bennett, director of property services at Barchester Healthcare, said: “We are very excited about the construction of our new care home in Lichfield, which is in a beautiful setting.

“We hope this new care home will become an integral part of local life and we are working hard to ensure it offers the best possible setting for our future staff and residents.”

Declan McGoff, operations director at McGoff and Byrne, said: “We are delighted to be delivering this landmark design and build scheme for Barchester Healthcare and look forward to a long synergetic partnership with our valued client.”

The project has been let to McGoff and Byrne Ltd as a full design and build contract, assisted by Harris Irwin Architects.
