The number of COVID-19 related deaths in care homes in England and Wales rose slightly at the end of October.
In their latest weekly update, the ONS recorded 85 COVID-related deaths in care homes in the week ending 29 October up from 82 in the previous week and just below the seven-month high of 89 recorded at the middle of the month.
COVDI-19 related deaths accounted for 3.7% of all deaths in care homes, up from 3.6% in the previous week.
There were 68 CQC notifications of deaths in care homes in England in the week ending 5 November, the same number as in the previous week.
The number of cases in the community in England has declined, however, from a peak of over 40,000 in mid-October to 24,642 on 8 November.
COVID deaths in England have also declined over the last week from 255 on 2 November to 32 on 8 November.
