The number of COVID-19 related deaths in England and Wales has increased for the second consecutive week.
In its latest weekly update, the ONS reported 15 COVID-19 related care home deaths in the week ending 18 June, up from 12 in the previous week.
COVID-19 deaths have now increased for two consecutive weeks following a sustained decline since February.
COVID-19 currently accounts for less than 1% (0.9%) of all deaths in care homes.
CCQ data shows there were 29,447 deaths of residents in care homes in England between 10 April 2020 and 25 June 2021.
Of these, four were notified in the week up to 25 June 2021.
Care Inspectorate Wales said there were 1,922 deaths of residents in care homes involving COVID-19 in Wales between 1 March 2020 and 16 June 2021.
