Care home COVID-19 related deaths have fallen to a five-month low in August, according to the latest ONS figures.
The number of COVID-19 related deaths in care homes in England and Wales declined to 35 in the week ending 7 August, the lowest rate since the onset of the pandemic at the end of March.
In its latest weekly release, the ONS said care homes accounted for 29.6% of all deaths involving COVID-19.
Year to date analysis shows there were 15,375 deaths involving COVID-19 in care homes up to 7 August.
Deaths involving COVID-19 in care homes as a proportion of all deaths in care homes declined from 2.6% to 1.9%.
CQC data shows there were 14,150 deaths of residents in care homes involving COVID-19 between 10 April and 14 August, with 29 taking place in the week ending 14 August.
Care Inspectorate Wales reported 504 deaths of residents in care homes in Wales between 17 March and 14 August.
