A Barchester care home development in Lichfield, Staffordshire has marked a construction milestone.

The topping out ceremony was held at The Spires, a 70-bed care home built by McGoff Construction.

Lorna Rose, Divisional Director for the new care home, said: “The topping out ceremony brings us a step closer to the day we welcome residents. I would like to thank everyone locally for the warm welcome we have already received and look forward to extending our hospitality to the local community when our Show Suite opens in April.”

McGoff Divisional Construction Director for The Spires, Chris Backhouse, said: “We were delighted to reach such a significant stage in the build process today. It was a pleasure to share the occasion with our project partners Barchester Healthcare. We look forward to handing over the Show Suite in the next few weeks which will allow finished aspects of the care home to be showcased.”

The home, which is named after the three spires on Lichfield Cathedral, will provide residential and dementia care for older people and will open its doors to residents this summer.

The development will feature an in-house hair salon, bistro area and Wi-Fi. Location near the city centre, the home also offers views across woodland and surrounding farmland.
