Avery care home lodges planning permission to open Kettering property

Care and retirement home operator Avery Care has formally started the process of opening a new home in Northamptonshire.

The company, which owns 52 homes across the UK, has submitted a planning permission application to Kettering Council to transform a Victorian property.

The group has proposed a redevelopment of site to provide a 42-bedroom dementia care home, a 77-bedroom nursing home, and conversion of Victorian villa to provide eight assisted living apartments, together with associated parking, landscaping, and amenity spaces.

The application form stated: “These proposals for a care home in this location have been developed in the light of the need to produce sensitive proposals which would bring this redundant site back into beneficial community use in a sympathetic way.

“We believe that a low impact use such as a care home is the perfect way to foster the redevelopment of the site in a manner which will actually enhance its character.”

It is expected that a decision regarding whether the permissions have been granted will be announced on March 23.
