Anchor Hanover and build partner Hill begin 82-home scheme

Anchor Hanover and newly appointed build partner Hill have begun construction of 82 new homes for the over 65s in Chelmsford.

The scheme is parts of Anchor Hanover’s goal to provide 3,200 homes for older people in the UK in the next seven years.

Anchor Hanover’s Head of New Business, Charles Taylor, said: “Construction is now underway, and we look forward to working with Hill to provide future owners with more suitable homes where they love living in later life.

“The new land has been carefully considered to ensure residents are within close proximity of local amenities and transport links. Our new community will also be home to an onsite bistro, a communal lounge, hair and beauty facilities and a guest suite. We expect to be welcoming the first new residents in early 2023.”

The 1.59-site is part of the Beaulieu joint venture between Countryside Properties and L&Q to create over 3,600 homes and amenities.

Over the next two years, Anchor Hanover with Hill as their contractor will deliver an independent living scheme of 82 one- and two-bedroom apartments for private sale and shared ownership. Hill anticipates that for this project, over 5% of their workforce will consist of apprentices, helping to provide employment opportunities to the talent of tomorrow.

Simon Trice, Managing Director of Hill Partnerships, said: “Beaulieu is already a significant landmark development for Chelmsford with a great many assets that make it an outstanding place for people to live. We are very pleased to be working with Anchor Hanover on this exciting scheme that will enhance the community and secure much needed homes for the over 65s.”
