Aberdeen care home residents rehoused following major fire


All residents at a Balhousie Care Group care home in Aberdeen have been rehoused following a fire that broke out over the weekend.

All staff and 38 elderly residents were safely evacuated from Alastrean House near Aboyne on Saturday when a fire threatened to destroy the building.

It took fire fighters four hours to bring the blaze under control, according to local reporters.

A statement from Balhousie Care Group, which runs the home on behalf of the MacRobert Trust, confirmed that nobody was injured during the fire, but there is no date for it to reopen.
