James has for over 25 years’ experience focused on supporting individuals with complex learning disabilities in both the public and independent sectors.
He has led large scale organisational change, service re-provision, and the commissioning of new and innovative community based residential and supported living services across the UK.
James has been the managing director for Consensus for over 11 years and has helped it grow and succeed since its inception as a part of the Caring Homes Group. He is very proud of the many things Consensus has supported people to achieve, and of the people who work within the organisation.
James is always building upon success by nurturing relationships, collaborating with colleagues, engaging with colleagues and listening to stakeholders. Arguably his greatest gift is his ability to create effective teams. To do so James began with his own leadership team. Mike, Tony, Eddie, Anja who together have led Consensus through a challenging year in the sector, but have achieved 95% in Care Quality Compliance, including two Outstanding services, supported 650 individuals in both residential, supported living and community-based opportunities across 90 sites, employed and provided training for over 1,600 colleagues and worked with over 133 LAs and CCGs.
James has become increasingly involved as a voice in the sector contributing to CQC consultations, Care England’s Provider Groups, ADASS, LD Voices and has most recently joined other key leaders in the House of Commons to provide expertise, insight and contribute to the debates and policies both locally and nationally.
