At the age of just 26, it is hard to believe that Tom already has more than ten years’ experience in health and social care. After starting work within the NHS, he moved into residential care where he found his calling – providing compassionate care and support for individuals living with dementia.
He joined Care UK’s Muriel Street care home in the summer of 2016. In just a year he has progressed from team leader to suite manager and was recently promoted to the role of deputy manager.
During his time at Muriel Street, the home has been through some challenging times and Tom has been mentored by a new home manager, helping her develop and implement a service improvement plan which has helped the home turn a corner in terms of the quality of the service delivered.
What sets Tom apart is an impressive combination of a naturally caring attitude combined with superb practical and sector knowledge – all underpinned by boundless energy and high personal standards. He also has an approachable style that people immediately respond to and understands the important part played by every member of the team; he shows he values them, and he goes above and beyond to help colleagues progress. Tom has a clear vision for his career. He is currently focused on expanding his care expertise and gaining practical experience in the management of a home. He has ambitions to progress to home manager and beyond that to regional director.
