Theresa Stanton is a dedicated, passionate Activities Coordinator, delivering innovative and engaging activities for older people.
Having been involved with both the Scouts and National Federation of Women’s Institutes for many years, Theresa was thrilled to join Buxton Lodge in a role which combines her love for supporting people and devising creative activities.
Theresa has led on making sure that an exciting programme of activities is available every day to all residents with support and encouragement from the management team. Her weekly activity diary is shared with residents and relatives so that all are informed of events taking place at the home.
To further her ability to provide care and support to all residents, Theresa took classes to become a qualified Dementia Friend this year, and has since gone on to become a Dementia Friend Champion. She is leading the effort at Buxton Lodge to make all carers in the home trained Dementia Friends. Theresa ran the home’s Dementia Awareness Week in May, and her activities often have a strong dementia focus. She will always adapt activities to make sure her classes are inclusive. From organising musical entertainment and sing-a-longs, to animal therapy sessions with ‘Ben the dog’, Theresa is dedicated to making sure the activities at Buxton Lodge are enjoyable, entertaining and aid reminiscence for people with dementia.
