Achieving CQC Outstanding ratings for half of WCS Care’s services may have been unintentional; what was absolutely intentional, however, was the visionary leadership that transformed WCS Care into the creative care provider that the sector wants to emulate.
Christine joined WCS with a vision of being a provider of residential care which is fiercely focused on making sure every person living in its care homes has fun and pleasure every day – a day well lived.
Christine has personally introduced many of the ideas that have improved the lives of residents, however, she’s also created an environment where everyone feels confident to be creative and innovative in their work – from interactions with residents to the introduction of electronic care planning.
Instead of spending time working out how to achieve CQC Outstanding ratings, Christine focuses on answering three questions: Does it give people more choice and independence? Does it improve people’s dignity? Does it make their life more fun?
To understand what needs to change and improve, it’s not unusual to find Christine working a shift as a carer, housekeeper, or laundry assistant. This highly visible, bedside to boardroom approach cannot be underestimated.
