Alison was recruited as General Manager from February 2015 when Temple Grove was Inadequate in all areas. Her thorough knowledge of care home management and being an experienced RGN, enabled her to tackle issues within the home.
Alison accepts nothing less than outstanding and excellent care within her home from all staff, and with the ethos of ‘the residents come first’; this became embedded into everyday practice of all staff in the home. A subsequent CQC inspection in September 2015 resulted in a Good rating in three areas with two areas Requiring Improvement.
More hard work followed including the removal of agency staff, continued development of existing staff with internal promotions, continued recruitment of experienced care staff, the introduction of a computerised care system and a training programme.
At a re-inspection in November 2016 all areas were awarded a Good rating. A transformation of Inadequate to Good in less than two years is a huge achievement and a true reflection of Alison’s hard work. Repairing damaged relationships with Adult Social Care Continuing Healthcare also required time, patience and transparency to create a positive working relationship going forward.
Her open door policy and positive can do attitude has had a tremendous impact on the staff resulting in the standards we see today.
