Delivering innovative and engaging activities for older people is the raison d’etre of activities co-ordinator Theresa Stanton.
With support and encouragement from the management team, Theresa has led on making sure that an exciting programme of activities is available every day to all residents. Her weekly activity diary is shared with residents and relatives so that all are informed of events taking place at the home.
Theresa takes a personal approach to her work, making sure to keep up to date with all the residents’ medical notes and she thoroughly reviews each new residents record to ensure she is organising activities they will enjoy and can participate in. Every morning she visits each resident to find out what group and individual activities they would like to participate in.
Her activities often have a strong dementia focus and she will always adapt activities to make sure her classes are inclusive. From organising musical entertainment and sing-a-longs, to animal therapy sessions with “Ben the dog”, Theresa is dedicated to making sure the activities at Buxton Lodge are enjoyable, entertaining and aid reminiscence for people with dementia.
Theresa is shining light of optimism and encouragement and a true asset to Buxton Lodge.
