George Thaw joined Advanced as managing director for Health and Care in September last year. He arrived as the company was going through a major restructuring and rebranding following the £750 million takeover of the software company by private equity firm Vista earlier in the year.
Founded in 2008, Advanced provides healthcare, business and learning management software and services. It is the third-largest UK-based software provider to the UK market, with more than 2,000 employees and 20,000 customers. The group has grown revenue to more than £200 million through a programme of complementary acquisitions and strong organic growth.
Mr Thaw has a background in the upper echelons of major software companies, having previously worked as global vice rresident for Avanade, a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft, which provides IT services focused on the Microsoft platform.
In conversation with Care Home Professional he said that technology has the potential to transform health and care when it is used to simplify routine tasks and put information in the hands of people that need it, and helping to integrate different areas of an organisation and the ecosystem in which it operates.
