It’s been an award winning year for leading care home operator Barchester Healthcare under the leadership of Dr Pete Calveley.
Barchester’s health and safety team collected an RoSPA Gold Award for the second year running in July for achieving a very high level of performance. The team were honoured for demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, outstanding control of risk and very low levels of error, harm and loss.
A programme to enhance dementia care led by director of dementia care Caroline Baker reached the finals of the Patient Safety Awards 2016. Barchester was also listed in the Top 20 Recommended Large Care Home Groups in the carehome.co.uk Top 20 awards 2016.
In another highlight, Barchester was one of five care home groups showcasing their initiatives to improve social care on the online community hub for nurses working in the care sector created by Care England and Nursing Times.
Dr Calveley joined the business as chief executive officer in June 2014.
For the previous six years, he was CEO of Four Seasons Health Care. His varied career has encompassed a stint as a police surgeon and working as a GP in the NHS.
