Being able to constantly adapt to the needs of a specialist market is the secret of Phil Andrews success at Castleoak.
Castleoak is transforming its business to meet the twin challenges of delivering efficiency savings to operators while creating environments that deliver the best care for residents.
Phil told Care Home Professional that his company is constantly adapting to the needs of such a specialist market. A key plank of its strategy is to standardise as much of the design, specification and build process, particularly for its timber frame care homes that are pre-fabricated close to its South Wales headquarters.
Phil commented: “We work very closely with operators to find efficiencies. That is not just in the construction process, it is also in the design process where we consider how the design of a home can impact on how staff will work within the finished homes, and how we can optimise the environment so that residents get the best possible care.”
Castleoak recently completed construction of 10 new care homes for Suffolk County Council in partnership with Care UK, which will operate the homes for 25 years. The £60 million contract was signed in December 2012, with construction on the first property starting in May 2013. By January this year, all 10 care homes were open – on budget and ahead of time.
