Runwood Homes celebrates second CQC Outstanding

Crowstone House in Westcliff on Sea, Essex has become the second Runwood Homes service to be rated Outstanding by the CQC.

The home, which provides care for up to 54 older people, follows Woodbury Court in Laindon, Essex, which achieved the CQC’s top rating in April 2017 (see Runwood Homes celebrates first ‘outstanding care home).

Home Manager Ajam Karim told CHP: “At Crowstone House we are extremely delighted with the outcome of the CQC Inspection that took place in November last year.

“We have been consistently receiving very good feedbacks from people who use our service and their representatives but for our hard work and dedication to be recognised by the Care Quality Commission is really gratifying. I am really grateful to my team of staff who have worked tirelessly to achieve this result.”

The CQC commented: “People were consistently cared for by kind, caring, respectful and compassionate staff. They told us that they felt they mattered and that staff always listened to them and helped them in any way they could.

“Staff were passionate about their role and had an exceptionally good knowledge about the people they cared for. People and their relatives said that staff, ‘went the extra mile’ and, ‘go out of their way’ to ensure that people had the most pleasant experience of care.”

The CQC noted the home’s emphasis and engagement and continuing links with the local community.

The service was praised for its wide range of trips with one resident commenting that they had had a better social life since moving into the home.

Residents were encouraged to maintain personal relationships with families invited to come into the home at meal times.

Technology was also used to maintain links between residents and their families.

Managing Director Logan Logeswaran told CHP: “This is the first report for the new year and we all very delighted with the rating and the recognition by CQC of the resources invested in our service, and our staff’s commitment for our residents to experience outstanding care.”
