WCS Care Group CEO Christine Asbury is among the keynote speakers at this year’s R&RA AMG and Conference on April 19 in the City of London.
Christine, who will talk on the difference training can make to the social care workforce, will feature along with Andy Whittingham of the NAO, and medicine consultant, Dr Adam Gordon, who will focus on older people’s health issues.
The R&RA will also be launching its latest care staff publication, ‘Keep Smiling’, which highlights the importance of dental hygiene in older people.
Judy Downey, Chair of the R&RA, said: “Older people today are more likely to keep their natural teeth than ever before. They have higher expectations of a healthy mouth and looking good.
“As a person’s ability to care for their teeth and dentures gets harder so does the general health of their mouth unless they have the support of those who can care for them.
“Too often older people keep worries like this to themselves but with some practical help and understanding plus regular care and access to dental services, the pleasures of daily living can soon bring the smile back.
“This useful and friendly R&RA handbook and accompanying video is to help anyone caring for older people whether in residential care or at home. It is also intended to help care for people with dementia whose dementia or disabilities make them resistant or unable to manage their own mouth and teeth care.”
