The home joins a select band with only one in a hundred care homes currently having the CQC’s top rating (see Lancashire nursing and care home rated ‘outstanding’).
Cornmil owner George Hill said: “We believe we are the first nursing home in the North and Central Lancashire area to be rated overall outstanding and the first in Lancashire to achieve outstanding for being effective, caring and well-led.
“The outstanding rating is a fantastic achievement – the reward to everyone for the tremendous amount of team work and dedication by all the staff who are supported by the professional allied services provided by so many.
“Our vision has always been to provide the highest quality of care and to receive such recognition by the Care Quality Commission makes us all feel very proud.”
Mr Hill said the home’s externally accredited management system and NHS Gold Standards Framework Beacon status for end of life care provide an excellent foundation for effective care and were a testimony to its high quality service.
“We constantly strive to provide the very best personalised care and lifestyle for all our residents which is continually identified throughout the report by the residents themselves, families, visitors and health care professionals,” George added.
