“To have the opportunity to manage the home and our fantastic team is a really proud moment for me,” Maria said.

“The team has worked hard over the years to keep a constant high level of care but I hope that I can introduce new ideas which make Welland House an even more special place to live.

“I am keen to bring a lot of positive changes this year – including improvements to our entertainment programme, promoting the benefits of being outdoors, trips out and most importantly, trying to improve the already high levels of care we offer.

“For example, we have such beautiful gardens and with spring on the way, we want to ensure residents can enjoy it, help care for our grounds and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells.

“Something which is especially important for our residents who suffer from dementia.

“I can’t wait to get going and everyone has been very supportive.”

Welland House Care Centre, which is part of the Worcestershire-based Redwood Healthcare group, is registered to care for 51 residents and employs 53 staff, including fully qualified nurses.
