Care UK’s new four-storey, 81-bed home in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, has been named Chandler Court after suggestions were invited from the local community.
Patricia Jenkins came up with the name, which was inspired by local candle makers in Bromsgrove.
Patricia said: “I was born and raised in Bromsgrove so when the opportunity arose to be a part of the town’s history, I leapt at the chance.
“I am delighted Chandler Court has been selected and I think it’s a lovely way of preserving the heritage of Bromsgrove and celebrating the history of the town – and the people who live here. I hope the new name conjures fond memories for people in the town as it did for me.”
Care UK Regional Director, Daniel Turner-Naylor added: “The home naming process is one of the key milestones for the new home, so it was important to involve the community in the decision. All of the names put forward were of a very high quality, but we felt ‘Chandler Court’ was really original and rooted the home in the local area.
“We’re so grateful to everyone that made a name suggestion and Patricia for coming up with the winning name.”
The home, which will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and will include its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café, is due to open early next year.
