LNT Care Developments has gained planning permission for a 66-bed care centre on a former council care home site.
Anzac House in Devizes was purchased by LNT in a deal brokered by Colliers International, Insider Media reported.
An LNT spokesman said: “Once complete, the 66-bed care home will be a strong community facility, integrating with the nearby local facilities of shops, churches and schools.
“It will provide outstanding accommodation with fully en-suite bedrooms, spacious communal areas, and state-of-the-art amenities including a cinema, library, garden room and tea shop, all surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens.”
Chris Dawson, director in the development team at Colliers International, said: “Given the site’s location it is not surprising that it attracted interest from a wide range of users. This included care, open market residential, affordable residential, retail and hotel leisure.
“Of the uses preferred by the council, the proposal from LNT was the most attractive and we are delighted to have secured a sale to them.”
Anzac House, which lies on a 1.5 acre site, housed 30 residents before its closure in 2015.
LNT plans to open the new development in March 2017.
