Katrina Ball has been appointed manager of Larchwood Care’s Sherford Manor care home in Taunton.
Katrina started her care home career as a teenager, and developed a passion for working in the social care sector. She qualified as a nurse in 2002, and has gained extensive experience as the registered manager at three previous care homes.
“I am a firm believer in person-centred care to achieve a good quality of life for residents,” Katrina said.
“It gives me great pleasure when I can see happy, well cared for residents enjoying the later years of their life, and am very proud to be a part of that.
“I always promote individualised care, as this ensures that residents don’t lose their sense of self once they move into the home. Great quality care will always be provided when those we are caring for are treated well, with respect, and with access to those comforts that make them feel more at home.”
Katrina achieved the Registered Managers Award qualification in 2007. Her previous home obtained Beacon status in the Gold Standard Framework. She has vast experience in dementia and palliative care, and is working towards completing her masters degree in dementia care.
Sherford Manor Care Home, which is based on Wyvern Road, provides dementia, residential and day care for up to 105 elderly residents.
