North-east based care home provider Helen McArdle will open a new purpose-built care home in Newton Aycliffe this weekend.

The 58-bedroom St Clare’s Court, which will provide residential, dementia and respite care, will employ more than 50 staff.

Andrea Blades, who has extensive experience of managing care homes and will head up the team, said: “I am thrilled to be managing St Clare’s Court and I am excited to have been given the opportunity to commission my first new care home. We have received a really warm welcome from everyone in the community and I am really looking forward to meeting everyone at the open day.”

Helen McArdle became the first care home provider to achieve four ‘outstanding’ care home ratings earlier this year (see Helen is first to four Outstanding CQC ratings).

Only WCS Care has more outstanding homes, with five, (see WCS Care is first to five outstanding ratings).

St Clare’s is the first of three new homes to be opened by Helen McArdle over the next six months. It is expected to be followed by one in Jesmond next month and one in Peterlee in February 2017.

Earlier this year the company was named in the top 20 recommended care homes in the country by carehome.co.uk and rated second medium-sized group in the UK in the Your Care Rating independent survey by Ipsos Mori.
