Care UK has become the latest care organisation to sign up its managers as members of Skills for Care.
Skills for Care’s registered manager membership helps managers develop best practice, keep up to data and share knowledge and ideas.
Georgina Turner, Programme Head, Employer Engagement for Skills for Care, (pictured) said: “We’re delighted to welcome Care UK’s registered managers to our growing community of professionals dedicated to improving the quality of care across the social care sector in England. It’s imperative that we provide registered managers with the support they need, the recognition they deserve and opportunities to meet and talk to other managers.
“Investing in membership demonstrates a commitment, by care organisations like Care UK, to develop and retain this key group of managers that are at the heart of our sector. It’s well recognised that investing in the professional development and wellbeing of registered managers is a precursor to providing Good and Outstanding services and it’s fantastic to see an organisation like Care UK making this step.”
Suzanne Ratcliffe, Care UK’s Head of Learning and Development, said: “We recognise that a successful care home team can only flourish and provide the best possible care for residents if it has a really great leader at the helm. We invest heavily in the training of both our managers and their leadership team to ensure that we deliver quality care today and in the future as our deputies and team leaders work their way up our career ladder. I’m confident that our managers will find it really useful and rewarding to be part of the Skills for Care family. It’s another example of the excellent career package we offer home managers.”
Through membership, registered managers receive a number of benefits to develop themselves, their teams and their services. These include a ‘Social care manager’s handbook’ (the go-to resource for every registered manager), a monthly newsletter, access to peer support through a members-only Facebook group, discounted resources, leadership programmes, seminars, HR support and the opportunity to become a mentor or receive mentoring; amongst others.
More information on the benefits of membership can be found at www.skillsforcare.org.uk/membership . Individual members pay only £35 per year and organisations buying more than 10 or more memberships for their registered managers receive a 10% discount.
