The Keynote Theatre, a key element within the Care & Dementia Show, will present new products and services from finalists of the Start-up Academy. The Academy is a new feature for the exhibition that promotes the latest innovations for the care industry from UK entrepreneurs.
Finalists include Happy Days Dementia Workshop, eMARx Solutions Ltd, ReminiScent Ltd and Kinesis Health Technologies.
Happy Days Dementia Workshop creates a range of products and events designed to enrich the lives of elderly care home residents. Products include wall art and murals featuring nostalgic images and themes. Its workshop days are designed to draw people into sharing memories and promote community within a home.
SyeMARx Solutions, a subsidiary of Systema Solutions, has created a solution for automating medication administration record keeping. The software, which is already installed at 30 care homes, provides a fully integrated and solution from the pharmacy to the care home staff and residents. Medications are identified through barcodes attached to them when they are dispensed from the pharmacy and then tracked at all stages from checking-in through to administration and even return of unused items.
ReminiScent uses the power of scent to trigger memories and wellbeing among elderly residents. Its flagship product, Smell & Connect, uses prompt cards and the sensation of smell to evoke positive feelings among dementia sufferers.
Kinesis Health Technologies will showcase its solution for monitoring residents’ risk of falling using its Quantitative Timed Up and Go (QTUG) app that provides a falls risk score based on their performance in completing a timed up and go test that compares an individual’s results to statistical norms that highlight how much risk of falling they pose.
