Mark Ward has been appointed CEO of Borough Care, the largest not for profit provider of care for older people in Stockport.
He joins Borough Care from youth charity OnSide Youth Zones, where he led the delivery of a national network of 21st century youth facilities.
Mark brings with him a wealth of experience in the voluntary and care sectors, including chief executive roles at Groundwork Manchester and the Deafness Support Network.
“I’m absolutely delighted to join Borough Care at such an exciting time,” Mark said.
“I’m really looking forward to working with our outstanding team, to start building our future from the fantastic foundations already in place.”
Mark’s appointment coincides with a new look for Borough Care. The company has decided to re-energise its brand and logo.
The new Borough Care logo and strapline ‘Life in Colour’ has been designed to be vibrant, upbeat and modern. Borough Care is aiming to overcome some of the stereotypes and pre-conceived ideas many people have about what a care home is like.
Mark said: “We’re keen to change the often negative view many people have about what life is like in a care home. Many of our residents lead rich, exciting lives and we believe this shouldn’t come to a standstill when they move to a care home.
“If they wish, we encourage our residents to learn a new skill, share their experiences with others or carry on leading an active social life. We have ambitions to lead a step change in the approach to care for older people. Our new vibrant image was purposefully chosen to portray us as the forward-thinking company we are. I’m confident it will help us engage with new people and enable us to demonstrate the very best of what we offer at our care homes.”
