Crescent Nursing Home in Bedford has been rated Outstanding by the CQC following an inspection in September.
The service, which joins the 2% of adult social care facilities rated Outstanding, is one of four registered care homes operated by Apex Care Homes in Bedford and Luton.
An Apex Care spokesperson said: “The quality of care we provide is absolutely central to our family owned and run business. We constantly strive to seek ways in which we can improve.
“Our aim is to always provide person centred care to all of our residents based on their individual needs. We seek to care for our residents as we would our own family in surroundings where compassion, care and support are paramount.”
Inspectors said staff were caring and compassionate and praised the level of care and support offered that gave service users an enhanced sense of quality of life and well being.
The CQC commended the service for being exceptionally well led and well run with an open and transparent culture.
Jemima Burnage, CQC’s Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care in the central region said: “There was visible and effective leadership within the service. The registered manager was supported by a dynamic management team that demonstrated a holistic approach and had clear oversight of how the service was meeting people’s physical, emotional and social needs.
“Without exception people told us that staff were extremely responsive to their needs and preferences and that their care was personalised about them as an individual person. Relatives were highly complementary about the exceptional care and support their family member received.
“People were able to decide what they wanted to do every day or participate in planned activities, which took place in the day service. This gave people a sense of being in control of their life and empowered them to do what they wanted.”
