Audley Group acquires retirement village site

Luxury retirement village provider Audley Group has acquired Scarcroft Estate in West Yorkshire for its next development.

The site, which is Audley Group’s third in Yorkshire and its 19th in total, is the former headquarters of npower situated in the heart of the desirable ‘Golden Triangle’ of Ilkley, Harrogate and York.

Nick Sanderson, Chief Executive, Audley Group, said: “Having the chance to open another Audley village in beautiful Yorkshire is a real privilege, and we are delighted to have made Scarcroft Lodge our first purchase of 2018.”

Plans for the site include a restaurant, health spa with hydrotherapy pool, gym and wellness studios.

Completion of the 18 villages under the Audley Villages brand will provide at least 2,000 units nationwide. The group is planning a further 1,250 units under its Mayfield Villages brand over the next five years, with the first site located in Watford.

David Couch – Head of Northern Residential Development at BNP Paribas Real Estate, who acted on behalf of the site’s vendor, said: “The Scarcroft Estate is an excellent development opportunity and attracted strong interest from a range of buyers.  We are delighted to have acted for the Receivers at FraserCRE and to have selected Audley as the purchaser based on the quality of their proposal and track record on similar schemes.  We look forward to working with them to achieve planning permission over the coming months.”
