Adept Care Homes has been handed the keys to a £7.8m care home boasting the facilities of a luxury hotel.
Kiwi House in Derby, which was constructed by specialist care home builder Wynbrook Care Homes, includes whirlpool baths, easy access to en-suite wet rooms, a cinema and pub.
Dave Lock, managing director of Adept Care Homes said: “Wynbrook has helped us turn an architectural drawing into reality. By bringing together and project managing all of the specialist contractors this project required, I believe we have built a care home that will transform the perceptions people have of what to expect from life in a care home.
“We are delighted with the finished care home and feedback from the first residents to live here has been really positive as they see the same team members every day and receive intimate personal care and attention.”
Residents will live in one of six suites, occupied by up to 13 people. Each suite has its own lounge, dining room and lifestyle kitchen, where residents can get involved in setting up for meal times or making their own tea, coffee and snacks.
Outside the home, residents are encouraged to help to maintain the gardens, or can simply wander around and enjoy the tranquility and parkland views.
Wynbrook director Steve Day said: “Kiwi House really is one of the most progressive and modern care homes we have built. As the UK population gets older, trends show that we may outlive our family and friends, and therefore our social circle diminishes.
“Adept have clearly recognised this and provided an environment where residents can remain socially active and access the support of care professionals as and when they need.”
Kiwi House will be officially opened in September by Angela Rippon.
