Andrea joined in October 2013 when CQC was developing its new and transformational framework for monitoring, inspecting and rating health and social care services in England.
She leads on the regulation of over 25,000 adult social care services across the country, the registration of all health and social care services as well as managing a team of around a thousand staff. Andrea has promoted the use of the ‘Mum Test’ in the regulation of adult social care to ensure CQC’s focus is on what matters most to people using services.
Having completed 33,000 inspections together with publishing the State of Adult Social Care 2014-2017 report; under Andrea’s leadership CQC is recognised as an authoritative source of information about the quality of adult social care.
Determined that everyone – staff, providers, commissioners and national bodies – listens to and acts upon the voice of people using services, their carers and families, to ensure good quality care is sustained now and in the future, Andrea has been instrumental in bringing together a coalition of organisations and national bodies for the launch of ‘Quality matters’.”
