2017 LEADERS IN CARE: CARE QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE: ANDREA SUTCLIFFE, CHIEF INSPECTOR OF ADULT SOCIAL CARE, CQC

Andrea Sutcliffe, CQC chief inspector of adult social services.

Andrea joined in October 2013 when CQC was developing its new and transformational framework for monitoring, inspecting and rating health and social care services in England.

She leads on the regulation of over 25,000 adult social care services across the country, the registration of all health and social care services as well as managing a team of around a thousand staff. Andrea has promoted the use of the ‘Mum Test’ in the regulation of adult social care to ensure CQC’s focus is on what matters most to people using services.

Having completed 33,000 inspections together with publishing the State of Adult Social Care 2014-2017 report; under Andrea’s leadership CQC is recognised as an authoritative source of information about the quality of adult social care.
