David Preston has a vision for where he wants to take things and has demonstrated that he has the commitment and tenacity to get there. Described by his team as approachable, inspirational, fun to work with and an all-round nice guy, David is also passionate about ‘doing the right thing’.
He has shown great leadership in developing Borough Care’s HR function into a well small, rounded team that adds value every day to the organisation as a whole, and the people they employ and look after.
In getting the best out of his staff, David has gone the extra mile in developing a number of initiatives. These include formation of our Employee Forum; annual Employee Engagement surveys; competence based approaches to recruitment; development of the Appraisal process; and several employee well being and recognition initiatives.
The head of HR is well known across his organisation and well respected – he is seen very much as part of everyone’s’ team, rather than a ‘separate’ function. He is always keen to get involved in whatever is going on in other non-HR projects and has successfully led the implementation of a whole new on-line recruitment process that has vastly speeded up the way Borough recruits.
