A trusted home manager with her dedication and exemplary record Genevieve Rodrigues was the perfect candidate when New Century sought a leader for the newly acquired Westbank care home in May this year.
Since taking on the post, Genevieve has successfully introduced many new practices to the home to raise the standard of care for each resident, including the implementation of a new wide-ranging and comprehensive activities schedule and ensuring greater input in the care of residents from local dementia specialists. In particular, she has formed strong links with the Heart of Kent Hospice.
Genevieve has also introduced processes to increase communications with residents and relatives to ensure everyone in the community has direct influence over the home environment and the care provided. This includes monthly relative and resident meetings, a weekly open surgery and monthly newsletters.
The changes at the home have already been recognised, with a positive CQC report in July 2016 and a visit by the Mayor of Tonbridge and Malling. Moving forward, Genevieve has aspirations for Westbank to be recognised as a centre of excellence in Kent. She believes that having a great reputation in the local community is the first step toward achieving her ultimate goal of an Outstanding CQC rating for the home.
